Murder arrest after fatal stabbing in Plymouth

A further murder arrest has been made following a fatal stabbing in Plymouth, police have said.

Devon and Cornwall Police was called to reports of a stabbing on Cambridge Road at about 14:30 GMT on Monday.

The force said Shane Jamie Sweet, 36, from Plymouth, died at the scene.

It said a man, aged 20, was arrested on suspicion of murder in the Stratford area of London on Thursday, and he remains in custody at Exeter police station.

'Isolated incident'

Police previously said five people were arrested but had been released from custody after assisting with inquiries.

Det ch insp Steve Fleetwood said the force was not "currently seeking anyone else in connection to the investigation".

“I understand that a serious incident of this nature will cause concern within the community," he said.

"I can confirm that this is being treated as an isolated incident.

“The local community will continue to see a high visibility policing presence in the area over the coming days as officers seek to provide reassurance and assist with any concerns.”
