A public sector report revealed reductions in the central administrative departments of the Government of Jersey

The Government of Jersey's staff headcount has fallen by 288 between June 2024 and June 2025, a report has found.

The latest public sector report highlights the reductions across the central administrative departments within the government.

This includes the cabinet office, department for the economy, digital services, people services and treasury and exchequer, the report said.

Chief Minister Lyndon Farnham said recruiting more people into permanent roles had strengthened its front-line services, particularly in health and education, as well as introducing a "requirement freeze" in other areas.

Deputy Farnham said: "This has enabled us to reduce the overall size of the public sector, ensuring government works more effectively, and that resources remain focused on the services islanders rely on most."
