Firefighters battle to control hay barn blaze

Firefighters are working to contain a blaze which started on Wednesday in a hay barn.

Six crews were called shortly after 17:00 BST to the site near Grenoble Road, Oxford.

They spent the night trying to protect buildings and farm machinery, Oxfordshire Fire and Rescue Service said.

No-one has been injured and the cause of the blaze is unknown, the service added.

Previously, people in the Frys Hill area were advised to keep their windows and doors closed because of thick, grey smoke rising from the flames.

The service said: "It is thought firefighters will remain in attendance today and they hope to make further progress."
