A man has been charged following a disturbance outside a pub during the summer after rumours spread about a far-right protest.

Amar Hussain, 34, was charged in connection with events which saw a group try to storm the Clumsy Swan in Bordesley Green, Birmingham, on 5 August.

More than 20 people have been arrested following the incident and more than a dozen had been charged, West Midlands Police said. People had gathered in the area following the rumours that had spread on social media about the protest, which did not take place.

Mr Hussain was charged with violent disorder and was due to appear at Birmingham Magistrates’ Court later.
