Two 16-year-old boys arrested following a police investigation into the final movements of a teenage boy in Cheshire will not face further action, the force said.

Jonty Evans was found dead in the River Weaver near Riverside, Nantwich, on 1 September.

The teenagers from Crewe, who were not named for legal reasons, were arrested on 5 September but Cheshire Police said on Friday they had been "eliminated" from their investigation.

The force said the inquiry remained ongoing and it wanted to hear from anyone who saw Jonty in the Waterlode area of Nantwich on 31 August between 00:30-02:30 BST.

Officers also urged anyone with any dashcam or doorbell footage or any information relating to the death to contact them.
