Wood firm fire could take days to put out

A fire at a wood production firm could take several days to extinguish.
Fire broke out at storage buildings at Certainly Wood, Lower Lulham, Herefordshire, during the early hours of Tuesday and fire crews said it will take several days before it is fully out.
The site's rural location meant getting access to water was difficult, the fire service said, and that timber was likely to burn for a considerable amount of time.
Certainly Wood, which produces firewood, said following a "major incident involving a fire on site" all orders were on hold until the situation had been assessed.
Jon Butlin, from the fire service, said compressed foam had been used to help tackle the fire due to it being in a rural location.
"We don't have many big, big fires like this, but when we do, we are very much well prepared with the resources," he said.
Timber "is a funny thing and will burn for a considerable amount of time," so it was likely to take days to fully extinguish the fire, the officer added.
An investigation into the cause is underway.
At the height of the blaze, involving multiple single-storey buildings, ten fire engines and other specialist vehicles were in attendance. Three engines remained at the scene on Wednesday.
