Repairs begin as stream of water bursts from pipe

The burst pipe caused flooding outside East Leake Fire Station

Repair work is taking place after a burst water pipe sent water metres into the air in East Leake.

The rupture happened outside a fire station in Gotham Road on Friday afternoon.

Properties in the area were experiencing supply problems, including no supply, poor pressure or discoloured water, according to a customer notice on the Severn Trent website.

The water supplier said repair teams were on site.

Repairs to the pipe are ongoing, Severn Trent said

Dave Cox, a resident who lives close to the burst pipe, said he had no water supply.

"I'm not surprised [I don't have water] by how much water was coming out [of] there," he said.

The 42-year-old drove past the area on his way home, where he said the water had "flooded part of the road".

Mr Cox added: "I'm just glad no-one was hurt by the burst."
