A 27-year-old man is set to go on trial after denying murdering a grandfather.

David Dosa, 53, of Farley Court, Luton, died on 15 August after being stabbed outside his home, police said.

Yasar Hussain, of Buxton Road, Luton, denied Mr Dosa's murder and possessing a bladed article during a hearing at Luton Crown Court on Monday,

Judge Michael Simon said a trial would be listed to start on 27 January 2025.

He listed a further preliminary hearing for 3 January and remanded Mr Hussain in custody.

Mr Hussain spoke only to confirm his identity and to enter not guilty pleas.

The judge discussed legal issues with barristers Sean Larkin KC, for the prosecution, and Maria Karaiskos KC, who represented Mr Hussain.

Relatives had paid tribute to Mr Dosa in a statement issued by police in the weeks after he died.

They said Mr Dosa had two grandchildren.

Police had said Mr Dosa was pronounced dead in Farley Court at about 14:15 BST on 15 August.
