A memorial cross has been stolen from a church graveyard, police have said.
Devon and Cornwall Police said the wooden cross with a brass plaque engraved with the name Michael Harrison had been taken from a graveyard in Broadhempston between 12 August and the early hours of 14 August.
Sgt Alex Freeman said the theft had caused "significant distress" to the family and friends of Michael Harrison.
He said: "The wooden cross taken from his grave held sentimental value and its removal has understandably caused upset."

Sgt Freeman said removing items from graves was "completely unacceptable"
"Graves and memorials are intended as places of reflection and remembrance, and the removal of items from them is completely unacceptable," he added.
He asked anyone with any information about the theft to come forward.
