A man has denied trying to murder three children who were passengers in a car that crashed while he was driving.

Tancredo Bankhardt, 41, denied three counts of attempted murder following a crash on the A146, between Hales and Loddon in Norfolk, on 26 September.

He also denied GBH, causing serious injury by dangerous driving, and engaging in controlling and/or coercive behaviour.

Mr Bankhardt, from Saxon Road in Great Yarmouth, was remanded in custody during an appearance at Norwich Crown Court ahead of a trial which has been set for 7 April 2026.

Norfolk Police said officers received a call at 19:40 BST on Friday, 26 September following concerns about the safety of a man and three children.

Officers made attempts to engage with the man and locate the vehicle they were travelling in, police added.

Fifty-six minutes later there was a collision involving three cars on the A146.

Three children, who were passengers in a blue Astra, were taken to Addenbrooke's Hospital in Cambridge.

Due to the prior police contact, the force has referred itself to the Independent Office for Police Conduct.
