Two new public art installations have been unveiled at Epsom Playhouse in Surrey.

One mural, in the foyer of the theatre, showcases the creative history of the playhouse, while the other, in the downstairs bar, is a photo exhibition celebrating British jazz singer Evelyn Dove.

Epsom and Ewell Borough Council, along with graffiti company Positive Arts, created the murals following conversations with locals at recent community events.

Clive Woodbridge, chair of the community and wellbeing committee, said the murals used "a vibrant palette of colours".

"I am sure they will draw plenty for interest from residents, who'll be impressed to see how this much-loved community venue has been revived," he said.

"The foyer mural illustrates visually how important regional theatres are in bringing arts and creativity to local areas."

The council said the murals were part of a range of improvement works being done at the venue.

It added that it was committed to creating a thriving, inclusive, creative and cultural outreach programme.

Both murals have been funded by the Arts, Culture and Heritage UK Shared Prosperity Fund, a national grant for art projects.
