Views on plans to overhaul town park sought

The council says it wants to improve facilities at Rowley Park Sports Stadium in Stafford

Residents are being asked for their thoughts about plans to overhaul a town's park.
Hundreds of people have already been in contact online and via face-to-face meetings during an initial consultation on proposals for the Rowley Park Sports Stadium in Stafford.
The park is used by thousands of people each year – and currently has an artificial football pitch, running track, tennis courts and bowling green as well as children's play area.
The authority said it wanted to improve accessibility and people had asked for improved play areas and sports facilities. A drop in session on Thursday between 18:00 and 20:00 BST is being held and a survey will run until 1 October.
Bosses said the refurbishment would see new play equipment for toddlers and juniors, an improved multi-use games area and potentially a wheeled sports facility.
There will also be walking routes and picnic places, and there could be a Ninja Warrior or Parkour trail too.
'Popular area'
The work would begin next year, and would be funded though developer contributions, the council said.
"The views of local people, families, youngsters and everyone who uses this popular area are very important in shaping our vision for the park," said council cabinet member for leisure Gillian Pardesi.
The authority added there was potential for further improvements to the site when more funding became available.
