Two toilets are out of order "due to what can only be described as a bold attempt at avant-garde plumbing sabotage", a council says.

A branch of a willow tree was jammed into the toilets at the Gloucester Road Car Park in Tewkesbury, Gloucestershire, and a can of chicken soup was also poured in.

Tewkesbury Town Council joked the vandal had attempted to to create their own art installation in the bathroom.

"While we admire the creativity, this is not part of a modern art exhibit," it said. The council added its team was "working hard to restore normal service (and their sanity)".

"In the meantime, please use alternative facilities available, and remember: toilets are for the usual suspects only," a spokesperson added.

Perhaps the secret artist was inspired by Andy Warhol's famous soup prints.
