Woman, 85, dies following crash in Fife

A woman has died following a crash on the A909 near Burntisland, Fife, on Thursday.

The 85-year-old passenger was taken to Victoria Hospital in Kirkcaldy following the collision, but emergency services said she died on Friday.

She had been travelling in a white BMW 1 Series when it was involved in the crash with a silver Vauxhall Corsa.

A 74-year-old man also suffered serious injuries and was also taken to Victoria Hospital.

Police Scotland said a 17-year-old girl had been charged in connection with a road traffic offence.

Sgt Lee Walkingshaw said: “Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the woman who has died at what is a very difficult time for them."

The force said the passenger's name was not being released as her family had asked for privacy.

He continued: “Our inquiries continue to establish the full circumstances and anyone who has not already spoken to officers and can help with our investigation is asked to get in touch, external.”
