A52 stretch to reopen before Christmas

Major work has been taking place on the road since May

A major route into Nottingham that has been partially closed for roadworks for several months is to reopen at the end of November, highways bosses have said.
Work to improve drainage, install a cycle path and introduce safer pedestrian routes has been taking place on the A52 Derby Road near Wollaton since May, with a one-way system currently in place.
National Highways says the route will reopen in both directions from 24 November.
However it will be closed over two weekends - 21-24 November and 5-8 December - for resurfacing.
On these dates, the road will be closed to traffic from 20:00 on Friday to 06:00 on Monday between the QMC and Priory roundabouts.
'Busy period'
Project manager Susan Chambers said: "We are making fantastic progress on this scheme which will bring safer, improved and more reliable journeys.
"But we appreciate that a lot of people will travel this route to do their shopping, visit family and socialise for Christmas so we are doing all we can to make that experience as painless as possible.
"We are working hard to have the road open in both directions during the daytime and weekends leading up to Christmas, when we know the city is at its busiest.
"Some road closures will be needed to safely resurface the road before it can open but we will do these over two weekends when traffic numbers are lower."
