A second man has appeared in court following the deaths of a mother and her daughter hit by a car as they walked to a nursery in Leeds.

Justyna Hulboj, 27, and four-year-old Lena Czepczor were struck on Scott Hall Road on 16 January 2023.

Jasskamal Riyat, 35, of Buckstone Avenue, Leeds, is charged with two counts of causing death by dangerous driving.

At Leeds Magistrates' Court, Mr Riyat spoke only to confirm his name, age and address.

He is due to appear at Leeds Crown Court on 27 June and was given conditional bail until that date.

Mr Riyat, who was told by magistrates he would have to hand in his passport as a condition of bail, is the second man to appear in court following the crash.

Earlier this month, Hardeep Bhachu, 27, of Grant Row, Leeds also appeared on the same charges.

He was released on bail and will also next appear at Leeds Crown Court on 27 June.
