A section of the A27 in West Sussex is set to be closed for the entire weekend.

The eastbound carriageway between the Manor Roundabout in Lancing and the Shoreham flyover will be shut from 21:00 BST on Friday until 06:00 on Monday.

This is to allow the National Highways team to finish drainage, install ducting across the road, and lay the final road surface at the new roundabout at New Monks Farm.

A diversion will be in place via the A27, A24, and A283.

A National Highways spokesperson said: "Local access will be maintained to the airport and residents with direct access off the eastbound A27 within the closure."

The new roundabout is to give access to the New Monks Farm development and provide better links to Brighton City Airport.

There had also been closures in place between 12 April and 15 April, 26 April and 29 April, and 10 May to 13 May.

The next phase of work will see westbound traffic rerouted onto the new A27 westbound carriageway around the roundabout with improvement works set to start on carriageways in both directions, the spokesperson added.
