A teenager has died and a man has been seriously injured in a crash in Berkshire.

The crash happened at about 16:00 GMT on Saturday near Ashampstead on an unnamed road between Yattendon Road and Ashampstead Road, Thames Valley Police said.

A red Volkswagen Polo was travelling eastwards when it left the carriageway and hit a tree.

The driver, a man in his late teens, died at the scene.

The passenger, a man in his 20s, was taken to hospital with serious but not life-threatening injuries.

Investigating officer PC Adam Price said it was an "extremely tragic incident".

He added: “My thoughts and the thoughts of all of us at Thames Valley Police are with the family of the man who has died.”

He appealed for any motorists who were in the area at the time to check their footage in case they had captured something that could help the investigation.
