Work is being carried out to fix the Tree of Joy in St Peter Port after an electrical fault.

Parts of the tree on the Weighbridge Roundabout have been unlit since the weekend.

The Rotary Club of Guernsey, who are behind the tree, said a fault in one of the cables was being repaired.

Nigel Dorey, from Rotary, said the club was working on having a dedicated power source at the site.

The 32 strings of lights that form the shape of the tree are currently powered via the street lights.

Mr Dorey said a dedicated power source would ensure faults could be more easily identified.

"It will be a massive move forward for the resilience of [the tree]," he said.

"It would make life a lot easier."
