A developer has been granted planning permission to build more than 200 homes.

Tewkesbury Borough Council's planning committee met on Tuesday to discuss the application by Bloor Homes to build 238 properties in Walton Cardiff.

In addition to the homes, developers applied for permission to create open spaces and a community sports pavilion.

The committee approved the application, for land south east of Bluebell Road, Wheatpieces, after officers recommended it for approval.

Outdoor sports pitches were also part of the application, in addition to an exercise trail, outdoor play area and a community orchard.

A green corridor running north to south through the centre of the development was proposed, "respecting the existing field hedgerow".

The homes will be built using a variety of red brick, chalk render and some Tudor-style boarding to reflect the surrounding environment.

The areas of public open space will be connected via a network of footpaths.

Solar panels will be fitted to the roofs of all 238 homes, generating a minimum of 266kWp across the site, Bloor said.
