Man pushed down stairs in 'cowardly attack'

A man has been pushed down a flight of stairs and left seriously injured in what police described as a “cowardly attack”.

The 52-year-old suffered life-changing injuries in the assault at a property on the Causeway in Altrincham at about 02:10 BST, Greater Manchester Police said.

He was taken to hospital, the force added.

No arrests have been made and officers have appealed for anyone with information or footage from the time of the incident to come forward.

Det Insp Andrew Langlands said: “This was a cowardly attack which left a man with serious injuries.

“Our investigation is moving at pace, and we are undertaking exhaustive enquiries to identify and arrest the person - or persons – responsible.”
