An MP is to hold further talks with a council leader over alleged planning errors in the building of a giant warehouse.

North Northamptonshire Council approved the new warehouse project on the former Weetabix site by Hooke Close in Corby in November.

However, the resident consultation on the scheme was mistakenly carried out in Hubble Road, about half a mile away.

Tom Pursglove, the Conservative MP for Corby, has described the situation as "completely unacceptable".

At the beginning of February, people living on Hooke Close spoke out in anger after construction work on the huge warehouse started in their road.

The council leader, Jason Smithers, recently told BBC Radio Northampton he wanted to "wholeheartedly apologise for the mistake from our planning department at NNC".

Following a backlash from residents, the authority confirmed the plans were still lawful, as notices were displayed nearby.

But residents in Hooke Close claimed details were posted in the wrong place.

'Concrete assurances'

At a recent meeting with the council chief executive and residents, Mr Pursglove said: "We all emphasised the need for proper answers as to how we have arrived at this point.

"We were told that an urgent investigation had been initiated to definitively get to the bottom of what has happened.

"The wider public requires concrete assurances that something like this could never happen again."

Another meeting between the MP and NNC is due to take place on 29 February.
