A man has died following a two-vehicle collision on the A40 in Gloucestershire on Monday.

Emergency services were called just before 14:00 BST to the crash on the A40 between Andoversford and Dowdeswell.

A 31-year-old man from Cirencester was pronounced dead at the scene.

A man in his 50s suffered life-threatening injuries in the collision and was taken to Southmeads Hospital in Bristol where he remains in a critical condition.

A woman in her 20s was taken to Gloucestershire Royal Hospital and treated for facial injuries but was discharged.

Road closures on the A40 have now been lifted and the road has reopened.

Gloucestershire Police were continuing to investigate the circumstances of the collision between a black Range Rover and a grey Land Rover Discovery.

The police were keen to speak to the driver of a blue Mercedes who may have witnessed the vehicles involved immediately prior to the incident.

Any witnesses to the collision who have not already spoken to police are also asked to provide information by calling 101 and quoting incident 213 of 27 May.
