A teenage boy has been arrested after a 17-year-old was hurt at a shopping centre by a weapon thought to be a machete.
Police were called to Merry Hill in Brierley Hill, Dudley, at about 15:30 GMT on Friday following an altercation involving two groups.
The arrested 16-year-old was detained on suspicion of wounding with intent on Saturday at about 17:00 GMT.
The injured boy sustained a small cut to his back which needed medical attention, according to the West Midlands force which added it still wanted to speak to anyone who had phone footage or saw what happened, or had any other information.
Extra officers have been patrolling in and around Merry Hill over the weekend to offer reassurance to shoppers.
In a previous statement, Det Ch Insp Lucy Kirwan said: "We know the fear and alarm that this attack has caused, especially as it took place on a busy shopping day.
"It's clearly completely unacceptable, and we are working through CCTV and gathering other witness statements as we work to identify all of those involved.
"Extra officers will be patrolling in and around Merry Hill over the weekend to offer reassurance, and speak to anyone with concerns."
