A woman has been stabbed during a robbery in a hospital car park.

Police were called to Basildon University Hospital, Essex, at 06:40 BST after the woman was assaulted and robbed.

Officers said the victim sounded her car horn repeatedly, and the suspect was believed to have got away on foot.

Police have appealed for information about the man, who was wearing a black balaclava, gloves and dark clothing, including navy jogging bottoms.

A spokesperson said: "We believe several people were in the area at the time of the incident and want to speak to anyone that saw the assault or the suspect.

"If you have any information or dashcam footage, please contact us quoting incident number 272 of Monday 15 July."
