Man in life-threatening condition after crash

Police are advising motorists to avoid the area

A man is in a life-threatening condition in hospital after a single-vehicle crash.

Essex Police said officers remained at the A130, close to the Rayleigh Spur roundabout, near Rayleigh, with the road closed from the Sadlers Farm roundabout since 04:30 BST.

Motorists have been advised to find alternate routes and police said the road was expected to be closed "for several hours".

Police said no-one else was involved in the crash and appealed for witnesses to come forward.

Essex County Council reported slow traffic on the A13 at Sadlers Farm roundabout to the A127 at the Fairglen Interchange following the crash,

There was also slow traffic westbound on Somnes Avenue, Canvey Island, from Central Wall Road to the A130 Canvey Way.
