A plan for homes in a country lane has been rejected by a planning inspector, who found the adverse impacts would "significantly and demonstrably outweigh" the benefits.

Developer Staxlink Ltd applied to build the 32 homes on land south of Kimbers Lane in Maidenhead but they were rejected by the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead (RBWM) in July 2024.

The land falls within a wider area allocated for development by the borough but council officers recommended the project be dismissed.

Planning inspector Zoe Raygen said while the development and affordable homes within it would have brought some benefits, building the homes would have harmed the character of the area and the site's trees.
