Deputy Yvonne Burford is set to be elected to Guernsey's senior committee.

Policy and Resources chose the experienced politician as their nominee for the vacancy to replace Deputy Jonathan Le Tocq.

Le Tocq stood down from (P&R) last month after being charged with creating more than a thousand indecent images of children.

Deputies Jayne Ozanne, David Goy, Marc Lainé and Chris Blin previously expressed interest in the position.

At the election, where she finished second, Deputy Burford said she would be interested in a position on P&R.

However she did not stand for the role and instead was elected as president of the Development and Planning Authority (DPA).

Deputies Lainé and Goy have confirmed they will not be standing in any election for the vacancy on P&R.

While Deputy Ozanne declined to comment and Deputy Blin was unavailable to confirm whether he would stand.

Lainé has been appointed as Digital Transformation Advisor to P&R, while Deputy Steve Falla continues to act as external relations lead for the committee.

If Deputy Burford is elected to P&R a new DPA president will need to be elected as the rules do not allow deputies on P&R to sit on other committees.

DPA Vice-President Marc Lainé has said he will not stand for the vacancy as President, but knows there is interest in the role.
