A man who tried to fool police officers by showing them a fake driving license and hiding four bags of cocaine in his underwear has been jailed.

Regi Salillari, 28, from Albania, was stopped by officers from the west area sentinel team while he was driving in the Thorney area of Stowmarket, in Suffolk, on 29 January.

When he was searched by officers, he produced a counterfeit Italian driving licence and was found to have four bags of cocaine in his underwear and more than £500 in cash.

Salillari appeared at Ipswich Crown Court on Wednesday, 26 March and was sentenced to 30 months with eight months concurrent.

PC Harry Tully, from the west area sentinel team, said: "Salillari came to Stowmarket with the sole intention of supplying Class A drugs in the town.

"When intercepted by officers, he attempted to deceive them by providing false details and producing fake documents which he had clearly gone to some lengths to obtain.

"Fortunately, the tenacious officers quickly saw past this elaborate ruse and he was arrested."
