Two people were taken to hospital after a lorry and petrol tanker crashed, leading to a fire.
The A14 westbound carriageway was closed near Stowmarket between junction 47A for Woolpit and junction 51 at Needham Market in Suffolk at about 08:00 BST.
Police, fire crews and paramedics were called and a diversion was put in place by National Highways.
The East of England Ambulance Service said it took two patients to Ipswich Hospital.
"Two ambulances, an ambulance officer vehicle and a critical care paramedic car were sent to the scene," a spokesperson said.
National Highways said police continued to work at the scene and recovery of vehicles was under way.
The eastbound carriageway was also closed, but had since reopened.
Suffolk Fire and Rescue Service said it was told of a "small fire" underneath the tanker and the crews left the scene by 11:13.
A spokesperson for Suffolk Police on added: "Motorists have been seen filming the incident on their phones as they pass - police will take action against anyone caught doing this."
