Community governor roles are available at all States-run schools in Guernsey

Interest in school governor roles in Guernsey has been very high, the States has said.

In July, the Committee for Education, Sport and Culture (ESC) announced applications for community governor roles created on every board of governors for the island's schools had opened.

The roles were set up by the States as part of plans to allow local communities, parents and staff to work closer with school leaders and ESC politicians.

The ESC said it was "delighted" with the level of interest which exceeded the number of roles available and successful applicants would be contacted shortly about being interviewed.

The States said the governors would sit on Interim Governance Board which meet three years each year.

The boards have been in place across all State-maintained education providers in the Bailiwick since 2022 to provide support and challenge school leaders.
