What have been the big stories in the West this week?
Bristol Live reported that an inquest due to open this week, external would explore whether more could have been done to save a prisoner's life. Paul Coughlan, from Hartcliffe died on 16 May 2023, days after becoming an inmate at HMP Bristol.

North Somerset Council is being ordered to pay compensation after sending bailiffs to the wrong business, external, reported Somerset Live. The firm - referred to as Company Y - paid more than £900 to save damaging its reputation, causing "financial disadvantage and distress".
Wiltshire Council confirmed taxpayers will foot the bill, external, external to remove St George's crosses that have been painted on roundabouts, lampposts and roads around the county.
