Another man has been arrested on suspicion of raping a child more than a decade ago as part of an investigation into historical sexual abuse.

Detectives executed a warrant at a house in Rochdale as part of Operation Sherwood, which investigates the abuse of girls in Oldham between 2011 and 2014.

A 38-year-old man was detained earlier on suspicion of rape of a girl under the age of 18, Greater Manchester Police said.

The force said it followed a recent disclosure from a survivor, who is at the forefront of the investigation, into abuse alleged to have occurred in Bolton.

It is the 13th arrest in relation to Operation Sherwood in the last three months.
