Train station ticket staff announce further strike

The RMT union said operations across the Northern network would be affected

Contract workers at a rail operator are to stage a further 48-hour strike over pay and conditions.
The RMT union said its members working on Northern's Carlisle Support Services (CSS) contract - which covers revenue protection and station gateline roles - would walk out on 7 and 8 October.
The union said the strike action would disrupt ticket checks and ticket barrier operations across the Northern network.
Workers walked out at the start of the month as part of the same dispute. CSS has been contacted for comment, while Northern declined to comment.
The RMT is pursuing a campaign to end outsourcing, and general secretary Eddie Dempsey said: "All our people want is respect, fair pay and decent conditions.
"The company need to get back to the table and make a decent offer.
"This whole episode underlines the need for all outsourcing on the railway to end and for all rail workers to be brought back in-house into direct employment."
