The planned closure of part of the main route between the Isle of Man’s capital and the north has been postponed.

A section of the A18 had been due to shut from 09:30 BST to allow the Department of Infrastructure to take down signage put in place for the Manx Grand Prix.

The department said that had been put on hold due to the “misty conditions”.

Tuesday’s closure, from Barrule Park in Ramsey to the Bungalow, would go ahead as planned “when conditions are predicted to be more favourable”, it added.

Additional contingency dates of 16 and 17 September have been earmarked for the work to be carried out, if needed.

It marks the first of two planned periods of restrictions on the carriageway, with the second due to be between Tholt-y-Will Road to Creg ny Baa on 9 and 10 September.

The contingency dates for those closures are 23 and 24 September.
