Your pictures on the theme of 'a windy day'

We asked our readers to send in their best pictures on the theme of "a windy day". Here is a selection of the photographs we received from around the world.

Lee Slater: "Getting blasted at Farewell Spit in New Zealand's Golden Bay, created by windblown sands."

Veronika Voitkevica: "It wasn't that windy, we were just messing around."

Claire Hughes: "Kody's ears are a good indicator of how windy it is on our walks."

Tim Reekie: "These ladies were out in the wind of Storm Eunice taking some shots as the crashing waves landed at Stokes Bay in Gosport."

Leonardo Fugoso Jr: "I was behind this lady when wind started whipping us from the side."

Artemis Sianos sent in this fun picture: "There's always at least a slight breeze on this peak in the Pilis Mountains in Hungary, but on windier days you need to anchor yourself to avoid being blown away."

Roger Smith: "Rogina is one of the keen kite surfers who takes advantage of the strong onshore winds at Waikanae beach, Kapiti Coast, New Zealand."

Marcus Simmons: "Opting for a UK summer holiday we were rewarded with very cold and windy conditions in Hastings. The lifeguards put out red warning flags which were almost bent double by the wind."

Anne Bostwick: "Empty deckchairs in a strong westerly wind on Seaford Beach in East Sussex."

Paul Griffin: "This is an image of my daughter flying a kite in Northampton, Massachusetts, on a windy day in March 1985. It was made on black and white film. I recently scanned the negative and colourised the image in Photoshop. I enjoy the soft pastel feel to the colours, they seem evoke the nostalgia and memories I have of this wonderful day."

Graham Woollven: "Skilled sailors race their RS Aero dinghies at the National Championships being held at Felpham, West Sussex."

Henrietta Englefield: "I never thought I would send a (very rare) selfie to the BBC, but this one, taken during Storm Bert, tells a story. I was using the wind to dry my rain-soaked hair as I stood high on the North Downs."

Kim Osborn: "On a winter's walk I discovered an umbrella blown by the winds high into the trees. As light as a feather bouncing from branch to branch."

Shane Aden Barker: "Multiple exposures and then layering them together produced this interesting shot of a wind turbine in motion. I love the fact that I caught some walkers near it to give it scale."

Doris Enders: "On a windy day I walked by a shipyard and saw this plastic cover flapping in the wind."

Juliet Davis: "Trying to figure out how to capture the wind, I came up with this idea. Standing on a hill in Suffolk on a very windy day with my hair whipping round my face. Took a few goes to get a decent shot."
