A motorway traffic management worker has been seriously injured after he was struck by a cone hit by a Mercedes driver, police have said.

The road crew were closing two lanes of the northbound M6 near Knutsford services at about 21:30 BST on 18 October, when a driver hit one of the cones being put out, which then struck the worker.

The worker suffered serious facial injuries, Cheshire Police said.

The driver of the white car, believed to be a 2012 Mercedes, failed to stop at the scene.

Police appealed for information and asked anyone with dashcam footage to contact them.
