Work has started on a new development of 110 affordable homes in Poole.

The site near Hillbourne Primary school will be made up of a combination of social rent and shared ownership homes.

It includes 40 two-bedroom homes, 41 three-bedroom and 29 one-bedroom flats in an independent living apartment building.

Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole (BCP) Council said the development was expected to be finished by the summer of 2026.

The authority said the "low carbon and energy-efficient" development had been partly funded through a £7.84m grant from Homes England - a government housing and regeneration agency.

Landscaping around the homes will include over a dozen new trees and hedges, and a wildlife pond and bat boxes.

The scheme is a partnership between the council and Wates Group.
