Man arrested on suspicion of murdering woman

A man has been arrested on suspicion of murder following the death of a woman.

West Mercia Police said officers found a woman, 44, with stab wounds at a house on Other Road in Redditch, Worcestershire, at about 09:30 GMT on Monday. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

A 46-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder and remains in police custody.

Ch Insp Gareth Lougher said he believed there to be no wider risk to the public but a cordon would remain in place while enquiries were being carried out.

Neighbour Anisa Hussain said: "I feel devastated by the news. It just makes you think, are we really safe in this community, who do we live amongst?"

Naheem, who has lived on the road all his life, said: "I was born and raised here and haven't seen anything like this happening, it's an absolute shock for us all that we're facing this on our street."
