Water supplies have been restored to most properties after 1,500 homes in a Somerset town were left without water.

Wessex Water said its crews were called out to repair a burst water main on Lyde Road, in Yeovil, which was reported to them shortly after 08:00 BST on Friday.

"We are sorry customers in the BA21 area of Yeovil may be without water or experiencing low pressure caused by a burst water main this morning," a spokesperson for Wessex Water said.

Peter Orchard of Wessex Water gave an update saying: "Supplies have been restored to the majority of properties now."
