A serial burglar has been jailed after raiding Devon schools, village halls and pubs.

Callum Tumilty, 30, originally from Newcastle, appeared at Exeter Crown Court, where it heard he had an "appalling record" for burglaries.

The court heard Tumilty targeted several vulnerable school premises to steal iPads, tablets and laptops to sell for quick cash in the Dawlish area. He returned to one school three times, the court heard.

Admitting to eight break-ins between October 2023 and January 2024, and also while he was on bail, he was jailed for a total of six years.

Tumilty also raided pubs including the Brunswick Arms in Dawlish, as well as village halls and a private residence, the court heard.

Judge Stephen Climie said the raids on various schools had a "financial, economic and emotional" impact.
