A murder investigation has been launched after a man was fatally stabbed in the street.
The 34-year-old victim, who has not been named, was attacked outside a property on Lealholm Walk in Eston, near Middlesbrough, at 21:00 GMT on Thursday.
He was taken to James Cook University Hospital by ambulance, but died a short time later.
Cleveland Police have yet to make an arrest and are appealing to the public for information to help find the perpetrator.
The senior investigating officer, Matt Hollingsworth, from Cleveland Police, sought to reassure residents in Eston.
"I understand there will be concern in the local community, and I want to take this opportunity to reassure residents that we will be working around the clock to identify and detain the person responsible," he said.
"There will be an increased police presence - with patrols in the area for your reassurance - and I would encourage anyone who has concerns to speak to an officer."
A police cordon has been put in place around the scene of the stabbing.
Officers have asked to speak to anyone who was in the area at the time of the murder on Thursday night.
