A £1.6m scheme to overhaul a road in Staffordshire has been completed including repairs to footpaths, crossings, drains and kerbs.

The project saw Coton Lane, Tamworth fully resurfaced from the junction of the A513 Comberford Road to the southern junction of Fontenaye Road, the county council said.

Work began in September and finished at the end of last week.

It was "fantastic news" for residents, said councillor Rob Pritchard, who added that the improvements meant more reliable journeys for drivers.

The reconstruction forms part of a wider £50m investment into roads in the county over three years from 2024 which includes, in Tamworth, to Aldergate, Upper Gungate, Lichfield Street and Lichfield Road in the coming months.
