Family 'touched' by woodland tribute to their dog

The mystery of who erected the signs has been solved thanks to the power of a local Facebook group

A surprised family who found a tribute to their late dog lining the route of his favourite woodland walk have said they found it "really touching".
Nicole Pennington and her father Derek would walk their springer spaniel Freddie regularly in Viridor Wood in Wigan.
She said some of the paths had become overgrown and her dad, who "didn't want empty mornings" after their dog's death in July, then took it upon himself to "cut back trees and made it walkable - a lot of other dog walkers said how much they appreciate it".
Nicole said: "His next job was to put up signs saying 'Freddie's Walk' and [when] he went to do more tidying up last week, the signs were already there!"

Freddie was a much-loved family pet
She added: "We didn't know who was behind it and took pictures."
Nicole then posted about what had happened on a local Facebook group.
She has since found out a "couple we do know who are dog walkers" had decided to erect the signs as an appreciation for her dad's work.
Nicole thanked Jamie and Megan Walsh for their "really touching" gesture.
