Two men have been arrested after a motorcyclist was seriously injured in a crash in Leicester.

Leicestershire Police said it received a report of a crash involving a red motorbike and a blue Honda Insight in Strasbourg Drive at 18:20 BST on Tuesday. Police later added it believed a white transit van was also involved.

The force said the rider of the motorbike sustained serious injuries and remained in hospital, while the driver of the Honda was not injured.

Two men aged 44 and 47 were arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving and remain in police custody, the force added.

The road was closed between Heachem Drive and Beaumont Leys Lane while emergency services responded and it has since reopened, the force said.

Det Insp Parminder Dhillon said: "At the time of the collision, the Honda was travelling along Strasbourg Drive from the direction of Beaumont Leys Lane, while the motorbike was in the opposite direction.

"We are appealing for anyone who may have seen either vehicle beforehand or the collision itself.

"Any information you have could be of assistance to our ongoing investigation, so please get in touch."
