Bassetlaw District Council has announced that shoppers will be able to park for free in the afternoons leading up to Christmas and New Year.
The authority said the free parking on council-owned car parks in Worksop and Retford applied after 13:00 GMT between 22 November and 5 January.
The decision was made to "attract more people into town centres to support high street businesses".
Councillor Alan Rhodes, cabinet member for corporate and financial services, said the free parking would also benefit those attending the Christmas lights switch-on in Worksop on 22 November.
