Dads aged 40 and over in Brighton are to stage a breakdance battle on Sunday to raise funds for a project combating social isolation among male caregivers.

The "Old School Block Party" is set to take place at The Brighton Open Air Theatre from 13:00 to 16:00 BST.

It has been organised by Dad La Soul, with DJ sets, graffiti artists and circus performers also on the bill during the family-friendly event.

Project founder Dan Flanagan said: "The term dad dancing is used to mock, but plenty of us lads still know how to get down."

He said the event was "not just about the dance battles" but "about breaking down barriers and building a supportive community".

"We want to show dads can have fun, be active, and support each other through the ups and downs of fatherhood."

The group was founded seven years ago and also hosts 'mental health gatherings' in Worthing, Lewes and Brighton to provide support for dads.
