A fire that damaged several houses under construction is believed to have been started "deliberately", confirms the fire service.

More than 30 firefighters were called to properties on fire at Berrington View in Hampton Gardens, Peterborough, at 05:20 BST on Sunday.

The crews from Cambridgeshire Fire and Rescue Services (CFRS) and Peterborough Volunteer Fire Brigade needed breathing apparatus to get the well-developed fire under control.

In total, six fire engines and an aerial appliance attended, with the blaze extinguished by 09:30 BST, the CFRS said.

The fire service confirmed on Monday the cause of the fire, which spread across several homes under construction, was "believed to be deliberate and anyone with information should contact the police".
