Parking at the East Arm of North Beach will be suspended from next week due to significant upgrades to the QEII Marina.

Guernsey Ports has said parking will be suspended for about 12 weeks from Monday 8 January.

The renovation will enable the safe removal of the current pontoons, the construction and installation of new ones and the storage of vessels that are currently moored to them.

The £1.4m replacement is part of a multi-million programme of investment in the berthing facilities.

Guernsey Ports head of operations Jerome Davis said: "We are working closely with our suppliers, contractors, operational teams and Traffic & Highways Services to optimise the delivery schedule and mitigate any disruption as much as possible."

He added: "We want to thank boat owners and the wider public for their co-operation while we undertake a programme of much-needed investment in the island’s leisure marina facilities.”

The pontoons will measure about 500 metres once fully assembled.
