Police station shut over explosive device fears

A police station was closed to the public for fear of an explosion after an object was brought into the building.

Dorset Police said the item, found in the Canford Cliffs area, was taken to Poole station on Wimborne Road shortly after 10:00 GMT.

The inquiries office was cordoned off until an Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team arrived to remove the object.

Police later said it was found to be not explosive and the building was fully reopened.
